Scope note
Processions associated with a wedding or other marriage ceremony. Included are processions to the place of the marriage ceremony, with either the bride or both bride and groom or both partners of the same sex, often accompanied by the wedding party. Wedding processions may take place on foot, mounted on a horse or other animal, or carried by a cart, carriage, automobile, or other conveyance. The simpler parading of the bride down the aisle of the church may also be considered a wedding procession. Also included are processions after the ceremony, as when the married couple and their entourage proceed through the town.
